Whereas the rains are the main form of input water into a basin, its correct monitoring with a number of correct and adequate rainfall stations scattered, it is of paramount importance. The objective of this study is to evaluate the density of existing rainfall stations in the sub-basin 87 and map the recommendations of new stations that are missing according to the recommendations of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the technical criteria for the national hydrometeorological network. The region of sub-basin 87 was framed in two distinct physiographic units, according to his relief and recommendations of the WMO. The Middle Coast sub-basin was classified as coastal regions, while the remainder of the sub-basins was framed as flat / undulating to hilly characteristics. It aimed to examine criteria for spatial arrangement of new rainfall stations and pluviographic proposals, through spatial analysis of existing and pluviographic rainfall stations in operation, in order to complement the existing monitoring network, in addition, other criteria for selecting the right site were analyzed as flat land, potential observer, distance of obstacles and proximity of roads. It was concluded that the evaluation of the influence of water bodies such as drainage area of sub-basins is critical for assessing the density distribution of new monitoring stations, which could cause a reduction of costs for monitoring precipitation of sub-basins by responsible agencies.
