Resumo
The GIDES Project (2013-2017) was an international cooperation project between Brazil’s and Japan’s government to strengthen the national strategy for integrated risk management in natural disasters. The Geological Survey of Brazil was responsible for developing the Hazard and Risk Mapping Manual concerning Mass Gravitational Movements. This article presents the hazard assessment technique applied at Santo Amaro da Imperatriz municipality, in Santa Catarina state. The assess resulted in 207 areas, classified from very high to low Hazard degrees. Slope failure process was considered the most representative. Prone areas are located at mountainous and high and low hills geomorphological domains. The municipality has about 3% of its territory minimally exposed to trigger sites or impact areas of these processes. Very high to high hazard zones corresponds to 92% of the total. About 28% of the urban perimeter was classified as belonging to at least some hazard degree. It is worth mentioning that only the places of interest, established by public managers, were evaluated
